Beaches on the Phu Yen coast
The coast of Phu Yen, the former province that is now part of Dak Lak, offers several kinds of beach. The Tuy Hoa city beach is a long stretch of sand on the east side of town with a promenade. Bai Mon lies below the lighthouse cape of Mui Dien and is reached by a stairway. Long Thuy appears on the national tourism page for the area. Bai Xep is known as a film location, but its access needs a separate note.
This is an independent guide, not run by any authority, resort or tour operator. A description of a beach is not a swimming permit. Do not assume lifeguards, flags or tested water quality at any of them. Judge the sea yourself and ask locally.

Tuy Hoa city beach
The city beach is the easy choice. It lies on the east side of Tuy Hoa, so hotels on the beach road are close to the sand, and it comes with a promenade for an evening stroll. The Tuy Hoa page covers the city, and the accommodation page shows which streets sit nearest the sand.
Do not take calm water for granted. The sea changes with the season, and the storm season lasts from May to November. A wide beach does not tell you where it is safe to swim.

Bai Xep: check access first
Bai Xep (Bãi Xép) is the location of the 2015 film "Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh", in English "I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass", and the grass hills of Ganh Ong belong to the same visit. A travel article from the national airline reported a visitor stop since September 2024, with fences at the access to the grass hill and the rocks, for conservation and infrastructure work. Check whether access has reopened before you go.
A tour program with departure on 12 July 2026 lists Bai Xep, but that is not a reopening notice. Treat the site as closed until a current local source says otherwise, and do not climb fences. The Bai Xep page has the details.

Bai Mon, Long Thuy and the coves
Smaller beaches, more steps.
Bai Mon at Mui Dien
A stairway leads from the lighthouse to the beach. The landscape area has a documented fee of VND 30,000 (about $1.20) per person and visit, set in a 2023 regulation. Children are exempt, and older visitors may get a reduction. The amount may differ at the gate.
Mui Dien guide →Long Thuy
The national tourism destination page names Long Thuy among the beaches of the area. Ask your hotel about access, parking and swimming conditions on the day.
Vung Ro Bay
The bay has fishing boats and fish farms, so not every shore is a bathing beach. Read the notes on the bay before you plan a swim.

Rainy season and floods
The UK government mentions floods, swollen rivers and landslides during the rainy season, with road links cut at times. In central Vietnam the rainy season is listed as October to December, with floods most likely in October and November.
Weather and best time →Boats
Choose a registered boat that meets safety standards, take the briefing and wear a life jacket. Do not board an overcrowded boat.
Corals at Hon Yen
The coast near Hon Yen has protected corals. Do not walk on live coral or touch the animals, even if an old article suggests a walk at low tide.
No lifeguard promise
Do not assume lifeguards, flags or clean water at any beach. Swim near other people, stay in your depth and leave the water when the surf grows.
For a comparison with a busier resort coast, see the beaches of Nha Trang.
