Tuy Hoa at a glance

Tuy Hoa (Tuy Hòa) sits on the sea beside the Da Rang River. Until 1 July 2025 it was the capital of Phu Yen province. That province has since joined Dak Lak, so Tuy Hoa is now a city on the Phu Yen coast and no longer a provincial capital. Older pages that call it the capital are out of date. The name Tuy Hoa still works on maps, in booking apps and with drivers.

The town is a practical base. It has an airport, a railway station, a city beach with a promenade and hotels, and the north and south routes both start here. The beaches and sights are described on their own pages. This is an independent guide, not run by the city, a hotel or a tour operator. Costs are in Vietnamese dong with a rough US dollar value, as listed in 2026.

The city beach

The beach lies on the east side of town and comes with a promenade. It is the easy choice for an evening walk or a swim near your hotel. A description of a beach is not a bathing permit. Lifeguards, calm water and clean water are not promised, and the sea can be rough in the wet months from September to December. Read the local signs and ask your hotel.

For other beaches on the coast, such as Bai Xep, Bai Mon and Long Thuy, see the beaches page. Bai Xep has an access caveat that you should read first.

What to see in and around town

Four stops that fit around a beach day.

Nhan Tower

A Cham brick tower from the end of the 11th century, with views of the city and the Da Rang River. The 64 m quoted on tourism pages belongs to the hill it stands on, not to the tower. Check fees and opening times locally.

Da Bia mountain

The peak rises to 706 m in Hoa Xuan commune. A race announced in February 2026 used a 2,280 m course over steps and natural paths. That is the race route, so ask locally about access, guides and the current state of the trail before you climb.

The central market

An airline travel guide lists a central market as a place to buy regional products. Ask your hotel for the current address and opening hours. Fresh seafood and local snacks are on the food page.

The Phu Yen Museum

The museum building stands in town. Ask your hotel about opening hours and exhibitions before you go. Its name still carries the old province, which is normal.

The full list of ideas is on the things to do page.
