How Phu Yen tours differ
The provincial tourism routes give the coast a simple structure: a north day and a south day from Tuy Hoa. The north route links Ganh Da Dia, the Mang Lang church, the food area at O Loan Lagoon, Nhan Tower and Hon Yen. The south route links Bai Mon and Mui Dien with the memorial in Vung Ro Bay. Tours differ in the stops they pick, the starting town and what the price covers.
Phu Yen is the former province that joined Dak Lak on 1 July 2025. Tuy Hoa is the natural start, and Quy Nhon is another one. From Nha Trang the coast is farther away. A route listing is not a bookable product, and a published itinerary does not show free seats on your day. Fees are in Vietnamese dong with a rough US dollar value, as listed in 2026.

The routes compared
Stops, entry fees and what to check first. Fees come from a 2023 decision and may have changed.
| Route | Main stops | Entry fee | Check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| North route | Ganh Da Dia, Mang Lang church, O Loan food area, Nhan Tower, Hon Yen | VND 40,000 (about $1.60) at Ganh Da Dia | Whether entry is included, child rules, boat trips at Hon Yen |
| South route | Bai Mon and Mui Dien, memorial in Vung Ro Bay | VND 30,000 (about $1.20) for the area | Start time, stairs, a separate lighthouse fee |
| Bai Xep add-on | Film location and beach | โ | Whether the site is open at all |
| Quy Nhon to Tuy Hoa itinerary | Ganh Da Dia, Bai Mon, Bai Xep | โ | Operator example for 12 to 15 July 2026, not a day trip |
The last row is a multi-day program from one operator. It shows that the stops can be combined, not that a day tour from Quy Nhon or Nha Trang is on sale today. The Bai Xep stop is the least certain one. A travel report from May 2025 describes a visiting stop since September 2024, with no reopening date.

The tour types in detail
What each kind of trip involves.
North coast day from Tuy Hoa
Ganh Da Dia lies roughly 30 km north of Tuy Hoa, according to one travel site. Add the O Loan food area for lunch and Nhan Tower for the view of the city and the Da Rang River. Ask the guide whether the Ganh Da Dia fee is included, because blogs quote other amounts.
Ganh Da Dia โSouth coast and lighthouse
A winding stairway leads up to the lighthouse at Mui Dien, and further steps go down to the beach. National tourism pages suggest sunrise, but check whether the gate opens before dawn. Do not count on a guaranteed first sunrise in Vietnam.
Mui Dien โLagoon and seafood stop
The lagoon is known for blood cockles (so huyet), which are cockles and not oysters. A food stop can fit either route. Fish farms on the water are not necessarily open to visitors, so do not book a trip on the promise of a visit.
O Loan Lagoon โBoat trips
At Hon Yen, basket boats for watching the shallows are described for low tide. Choose a registered boat, ask for a safety briefing and wear a life jacket. Do not walk on corals, and do not touch or feed marine life.
Day trips from Quy Nhon
Quy Nhon lies on the same railway line, and some programs combine its coast with Phu Yen. Check the pickup point, the route and the real start town. A listing can name a different place than the one you expect.
Doing it yourself
A taxi from the airport to the center is a rough VND 120,000โ150,000 (about $4.80 to $6.00) for about 10 km. A rented scooter is not proof that you may ride it. British travel advice points to high motorbike risks, so check your license and insurance first.
Getting there โWhat to check before you book
The wording differs more than the prices do.
Date, route and meeting point
Confirm the pickup place and time, the stops on the day and whether Bai Xep is really on the route. Public listings do not show free seats on your date.
What the price covers
Ask whether entry fees, lunch, boats and insurance are in the price. Compare the final total, not the headline amount.
Children and discounts
The fee decision exempts children from the Ganh Da Dia entry but gives no age, and blogs list different height and age limits. Ask on the day, and do not count on a discount for foreign visitors.
Weather and cancellation
Rain and storms can change the plan between September and December, and the storm season runs from May to November. Read the cancellation terms before you pay. See the weather page.

Phu Yen tours: frequently asked questions
What is the best tour in Phu Yen?
That depends on what you want to see. The north route suits basalt, food and a city view. The south route suits a lighthouse and a historical memorial. The table above compares routes, not a ranking.
Can I visit Phu Yen as a day trip from Nha Trang?
It is a long day. A bus is listed at roughly 116 to 120 km and about 2.3 hours each way, depending on the source. Staying overnight in Tuy Hoa gives you time for the sights. See getting there.
Are entry fees included in tour prices?
It differs by tour. Ask before you book. The documented fees are VND 40,000 (about $1.60) at Ganh Da Dia and VND 30,000 (about $1.20) for the Bai Mon area, as of the 2023 decision.
Do tours go to Bai Xep?
Some programs list it, and a July 2026 itinerary does. A report from May 2025 describes a visiting stop since September 2024. Ask the operator whether you can really enter on your date.
Do I need to book in advance?
Listings do not show free seats for your date. Check availability for your date and read the cancellation terms before you pay.
